Getting started
From download to first dictation in a few minutes.
1. Install
Download the Mac or Windows build and complete setup. On Mac, use right-click → Open if Gatekeeper blocks the app.
2. Permissions
Mac: Allow Microphone, Input Monitoring (for the global hotkey), and Accessibility (for paste into other apps).
Windows: Allow microphone access when prompted.
3. Model download
On first launch, wisprvibe downloads the Whisper model (~1.6 GB) to your user folder. You need internet once; after that, dictation is fully offline.
4. Dictate
- Hold hotkey → speak → release to transcribe & paste
- Double-tap hotkey for hands-free mode
- ESC to cancel mid-recording
Default hotkey: Fn on Mac, Right Alt on Windows. Change it anytime in Settings → Shortcuts.
